- The Key Word Search:
-
- You may search for, "Find" or "List" records by using Key Word Search.
-
- When selecting a key word search you will prompted about searching all
- fields or specific fields. A response to search specifc fields will
- cause a list all the field names to be listed on the screen with their
- respective field numbers. You may then select the number of the field to
- search followed by pressing return and then entering a sign (see below)
- and the key word you want to search for. You may search addtional fields
- by entering another field number and then the same or another key word.
- When searching all fields you are only prompted for the search word.
-
- The following Signs are used in Key Word searches: The sign '=' means
- to find a character, word or phrase equal to the 'Key Word' entered.
- The sign '>' means to search for an item equal to, or greater than the
- 'Key Word'. And the sign '<' is for equal to or less than the key. Not
- entering any sign for a key word search is the same as ''='' equal to.

- Index Search:
-
- You may search for, "Find" or "List" records by using an Index.
-
- When selecting an Index for Finding or Listing records you will be
- prompted for which index to use. (The first 3 fields are automatically
- indexed.) With "List" function you will be prompted for which index and
- then prompted for the word to search for. With the "Find" function the
- a blank record is displayed and you enter the word to search for in the
- blank field.
-
- Index searchs are the fastest method for locating or listing records.
-
- Using the Sort function cause the records to be listed in order based
- upon the index search word. For example entering the 1000 in a numeric
- index causes the sort to be for all records with 1000 or less. If the
- field is Alphabetic then the sort will be in alphabetic order.
-
- Using the Find function also prompts you about paging forward or
- backwards through the records after the first record is found.
